1) It's fun!

No wait, hear me out - if you haven’t had lifestyle family photos done before, you might be thinking that you’ll have to stand in an awkward position while forcing a smile as your two year old screams and your husband grumbles.

But that’s not how I work.

While your kids run around, I’ll be running too. You hang out and relax, and I get to capture all those natural gleeful smiles of freedom. At some point I might give your little one a special job, like “When I count to three, run up and surprise mom with a hug attack!” No child has ever turned down the opportunity to surprise attack their parents. The result is 100% adorable, and I’m there to capture the big laughs as well as the quieter snuggles that follow.

I can’t tell you how many first-time families told me how much fun they had, and that they were surprised at how easy it all was. The best photos come from you just taking a moment to relax in the company of your loved ones. You’re not performing, not forcing anything. Just being, together. It’s a kind of fun that we should probably all do more of.

2) Your phone photos aren’t good enough.

Yup. I said it. They AREN’T GOOD ENOUGH. They’re cute, for sure. And they’re wonderful for capturing the day-to-day shenanigans of your household. I have photos of my kids on my phone that I cherish, and have even printed and framed a few.

But a professional photo of your family is lightyears better than the slightly fish-eyed, grainy, poorly lit selfie that the group of you squeezed into. A professional photographer (ah hem, *waves*) will know where to place you in relation to the light, and what angle to shoot from, and what settings to use for the ideal depth of focus and clarity, how to compose the shots, the exact moment to take the shots, and will constantly adjust all of these factors to meet the changing conditions of light, mood, and active children.

The best part is you don’t have to think about ANY of that stuff! Your photographer is at work using the skills they’ve spent years refining, shooting on equipment they’ve invested a considerable amount in, to be able to give you photographs that you and your family will cherish for the next 50 or 100 years.

3) You deserve this.

You work hard! You’re busy, life is flying by, the kids keep growing, and everything that you do for them - for your family - is, well, maybe not taken for granted, but perhaps could be acknowledged a bit more? My point is, you deserve to have one hour where the love within your family is appreciated. Where you are appreciated! Where you can slow down, enjoy each other’s company, and create a gallery of photos that tell who you are in this moment.
